BritAngel Publishing

     BritAngel Publishing brings teacher-created and student-tested learning materials to America's classrooms through its Easy Steps series covering subjects from computers to mathematics. BritAngel partners, educators Phyllis Ross and Harriet Pollon, count on our team to help them reach the education community, from traditional classroom teachers to independent study institutions to correctional educators to homeschoolers.

     BritAngel Publishing was started nearly 10 years ago when Phyllis Ross was challenged with the task of teaching computer literacy to her students in the teen-parent program of the Oxnard Union High School District. After an exhaustive search, Ross was unable to find the appropriate textbook to fit her classroom needs -- a book written for the "beginner's mind."

     Ms. Ross knew that the text had to have lessons and exercises that didn't skip steps, allay her students' fears of computers, provide a rewarding feeling for mastering each skill, and allow her students to work at their own pace. With these tenets in mind, Ross started writing, and testing, a computer textbook for her students to learn the Word? application. The result was Easy Steps Toward Basic Computer Competence.

     This book created for Windows? based computers:
  • Teaches students computer fundamentals step-by-step;
    • Its basic approach helps students with little or no computer experience gain confidence as each exercise introduces and teaches a new set of skills.
  • Includes lessons for keyboarding;
  • Fits easily into an independent study, adult education, technology training courses, home schooling and traditional classroom environment.

     Now in its third edition, Easy Steps has been used by thousands of students representing schools, districts, charter schools and correctional facilities throughout California, including San Bernardino City Unified, Santa Cruz City Schools, Simi Valley Adult Education & Career Center, and San Mateo County's Inmate Education Program. Easy Steps was officially adopted as a text for independent study in Ross's home district, the Oxnard Union High School District, and the Simi Valley Unified School District
