Dr. Ruth Hemming

      Anchor Education tries to support positive advancements in our community at all levels, but especially in matters of education. In August 2000, we offered our marketing services to Dr. Ruth Hemming who was seeking the office of trustee of the Ventura County Community Colleges District (VCCCD). Dr. Hemming is, simply put, one of the finest educators in the business. She was willing to retire from her career as an educator to bring quality representation to the VCCCD board.

      Our challenge was to create positive political documents and secure public endorsements for Dr. Hemming’s campaign. Among our tactical efforts was a post card which Ruth’s supporters could send to their friends living within her district. Anchor Education sought to create a message that would survive a quick trip to the "round file" and would result in Dr. Hemming's name and message being kept ?at least until Election Day.

      The message, "I Care, I Vote," was designed to end up on bulletin boards, in office windows or as a miniature sign to remind people that its owner (like Dr. Hemming) is determined to make his or her hometown a better place. David Mejia created the eye-catching graphics, utilizing the white "I Care" letters, and red white and blue "I Vote" letters on a stark contrasting black background.

      On the message side of the post card, a succinct statement of Dr. Hemming’s commitment to students and the voters was presented, with room for the sender to personalize the message to a friend or colleague.
