Gerald R. Fecht, Ph.D.

      One of the founders of Anchor Education, Dr. Jerry (as most people call him) is both an educator and professional marketer. With over 20 years of classroom experience, he brings to the ? Team the leadership to build solid marketing programs. As an expert in nich? markets, Dr. Jerry ranks among the most successful proponents of segmented marketing, especially where school populations are concerned.

      Dr. Jerry provides Anchor Education with essential counsel on event-involved, lifestyle marketing strategies and tactical programs. His theoretical experience as a college marketing professor and "real world" planning experience make him a sought after lecturer to business and professional groups that are seeking answers to the challenges of new market segments. He is also an expert in the creation of business-to-business and business-to-college relationships, especially through cause-related campaigns.

      Dr. Jerry has created a number of ground-breaking and significant marketing programs for many areas including: education, arts and entertainment, Latino, African-American, senior adults, youth, and collegiate institutions. He also leads or participates in ??s planning for clients, ideation (brainstorming) and program development stages. Dr. Jerry holds a bachelor?s degree in political science and history, a master?s degree in education, and a doctorate in philosophy in higher education from the University of Southern California.

Karen L. Whitaker

      Anchor Education's managing partner Karen Whitaker began her career 20 years ago in the newspaper field in Kentucky, reporting on education, government and business. She moved to California in 1987 to work as a public relations specialist at a Ventura County firm. Karen worked with Fortune 500 companies such as 3M and Procter & Gamble. Her communications skills also served governmental agencies including the South Coast Area Transit and the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District, handling local media relations, crisis communications and community events.

      In 1990, Karen entered the marketing industry, where she has created and implemented nich? programs for a number of companies, including Saturn Corporation, Pepsi-Cola Company, and Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In addition to her experience in college, secondary school and union marketing, Karen has proven skills in communications and collateral development, and her work has earned ADDY Awards from the Ventura County Advertising Club.

      Karen has a bachelor's degree in journalism and government from Western Kentucky University.

Cecilia Herrera

     We are very pleased to announce the affiliation of Ms. Cecilia A. Herrera as a partner with Anchor Education for early childhood and Hispanic programs. We have worked closely with Cecilia for more than ten years and know first-hand her many skills and dedication to business excellence.

     A graduate of the University of Southern California's school of business, Ms. Herrera will work as a member of Anchor Education's program development team, as well as overseeing marketing efforts in two areas.


Early Childhood Education and Activities

     Cecilia has served many important clients, including the General Motors Corporation, ARCO Products Company, the Saturn Corporation and the Buick Motor Division of General Motors. She began her marketing career as a special events coordinator for Hispanic and military personnel marketing programs, and later developed national college-marketing programs, created retail promotional programs as well as executing major automotive marketing initiatives.

     Ms. Herrera has important skills in creative production processes, including: strategic planning; the development of specialized collateral materials and fulfillment; event planning; and a-to-z coordination. She has extensive experience in public relations, field promotions, the creation and management of budgets, and the training of marketing personnel.
